I think that's what its called anyways. It's the yellow and black cord that has square-shaped plugs. Anyways, when it's plugged into the motherboard, if I try to turn my computer on, it shuts off within a few seconds. But when it isn't plugged in and I turn it on it stays on. Any idea what could be causing this?

Where are you connecting in on the board?
Let us know, also, your mobo, cpu and Psu specs/models.
