Well the BIOS update wont do anything, it wont upgrade windows. Would be nice if it did, but it wont lol

So, unless you get or buy another more modern computer, he'll have to stick with windows 2000

wow, Pentium III!? That's ancient.

I doubt it could even run windows xp so only option is to get a new computer, even one that is $200 will be light years faster than that thing.

ehh? W2K you say?

You're stuck in a PCI/ISA bus world with PATA HDD's and pentium D's.

Best bet is to grab something significantly newer, hardware wise. Everything today(apps/browsers/programs/games) uses tons more memory and processing. I'm surprised the electrolytic caps on his motherboard aren't fried yet.

He'd be lucky to have a 40GB HDD and 700MHz CPU in that machine.

You can get a Dell Optiplex 780 on eBay for less than $160.00 w/ Windows 7 that would be light years better than what he is using.

There is no 'update' you can do to that to make it worthwhile.

Any $300 box from Walmart/BestBuy would blow away any possible change you could make to that.
None of the parts, including the case and DVD drive, are usable.
