If I am switching between Rx-xxx graphic cards, do I need to uninstall/re-install the AMD graphics driver? It seems that it should simply be able to recognize which of their cards I have at boot time since the driver files are identical.

The rest of the cards should work without re-installing the drivers, but the R9 290X uses different drivers if I recall correctly.

OK. Thanks.
Why would that be? The 290X I mean.

It's a good idea to always make sure you have the latest drivers from the AMD site.

Actually, I always have the latest driver. But I move cards around from system to system as I benchmark and just wanted to avoid having to go through the uninstall/reinstall process all the time if it wasn't needed. I was under the impression that AMD used a unified driver that recognized the card automatically on boot.
