Hi guys

I bought recently a new mobo : ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0
http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970%20Extreme3%20R2.0/?cat...

and 2 memory sticks G.Skill RipJaws X Series 8 Go (2x 4Go) DDR3 1866 MHz CL9

The plan was to remove my phenom II X3 720 BE from my old mobo, an Asus M4A77TD Pro
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A77TD_PRO/specificat...

and plug it the new AM3+ mobo with the 2 new memory modules

However when I restart my pc with the phenom II X3 720 BE into the new mobo, nothing happens, no display on screen, the mobo have no onboard led, all the fans works fine ( cpu, case and graphic card)
no beep ( tried the external speakers since my case dont have one), no post

What I did :

- unplugged all hdd and pci cards leaving only the cpu, 2*4 Go of ram and radeon hd7850

- unplugged the 2 memory modules - G.Skill RipJaws X Series 8 Go (2x 4Go) DDR3 1866 MHz - one by one , no change ; I plugged them into my old mobo with the same phenom II X3 720 BE and are detected correctly in the bios and in Win7

- I plugged the Kingston 4 Go (2x 2Go) DDR3 1333 MHz memory module from my old mobo into the new one to check if it could be a memory issue, still no chance

- my power supply is an FSP (Fortron) EVEREST 85PLUS 500, it have 2 4pins ATX 12 V connectors, I tried both of them on my old asus mobo since it only need 1 , both works fine , same goes for the 24 pins connector

- i did a clear CMOS

I am a bit lost here , I think it could be a motherboard issue, any help would be appreciated Thanks

PS : my 2 memory sticks are not on the Memory Support List, however i doubt they would prohibit the pc from starting and if plugged into the 5 years old Asus M4A77TD Pro they are correctly detected

Sounds like mobo, could check the CPU and make sure no bent broken pins, double check the power connectors are all snug.... if all else fails may want to bench it to ensure no shorts, have a guide that might help here:

Update

I ordered a new mobo and a new proc FX 6350 and its the same , the cpu, mobo and video card fans works but no display

Could it be the PSU, even if it works with my M4A77TD Pro mobo. 15 days ago, I remember a small burned smell when I walked to my computer . Could it be some burned caps in the PSU that affect power supply output ? maybe enough to supply an old mobo but not enough for a more recent one ?
