Hi everyone. I am building a gaming pc for the first time and I don't know what parts to put in it. If someone could help me out that would be awesome. I live in Canada Alberta and my budget is $1200.

With your budget, build around a i5-4690K and a graphics card in the $400 range. That might well be the new GTX970.
Use a Z97 based motherboard, a 240gb ssd and a 8gb kit of 2 x 4gb of 1866 ddr3 1.5v ram.
