Question about RAM

Are you using pro type rendering tools? Not freeware crap or 30 dollar video programs. If you're doing large projects that have large frame buffering, you might be better off with 16gb. Plus that will give you the flexibility to use your computer while rendering, without worring about hitting hardware limits.

Ultimately i would research the programs you're going to be using. See what is needed for optimal highest possible render times. For games 8gb is still more than enough.

I don't have experience with vegas, im guessing your going to accelerate the rendering with cuda cores. I don't think that program uses a ton of memory maybe 3 or 4gb at most, so in this case 8gb is probably enough.

honestly, my opinion, if you can spend on two gtx 980's why not just buy a decent 16gb kit for around 120 bucks and be done with it?
