How much would I save on this build?
Which day usually sees more savings?

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/sjk007/saved/RhmNnQ

The price on this thing is around $1100 but I'm wondering if it can cut into $800 if I bought during Black Friday.

There are a few combo deals and rebates floating around, but I'm not sure if I should go for it or wait.

Here is another build which is for my little brother.

It's at $600 but goal is to get it to $400.
This is my first time building/buying a custom PC(parts for custom PC).
I'd appreciate any insight.

Thank you.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are mere marketing terms for a reduction in price for some parts between late October and mid January.
Don't fall for the hype.
Youll probably save some but you might not get what you want exactly. Not everything goes sales although a lot of things get a small sale. The big ticket items are either limited stock or end of life stuff of ok quality stuff or lesser known brands etc.

From my experience big ticket items like processors, RAM, and GPUs are almost never discounted on Black Friday.

Cases and PSUs are where you'll save lots of money, but don't be surprised if there are not any killer discounts on motherboards, unless stores like Newegg and Micro Center offer some crazy Black Friday only details. It's too early to tell at this point.

So the big ticket items being limited stock/end of life stuff, should I buy it in case it goes out of stock? Or should I get something more recent?

I appreciate the help.

I see, but is this the same for Cyber Monday?

Design your PC(s). Select the parts you want.
Whatever is cheaper at that time, buy that. The other stuff that isn't...buy that too.

Do not stress over 'Black Friday' sales. Buy what you want, when you want.

During the Christmas season, you might find products for 5-15% off - you are currently at about 5% off....if you want to watch the websites daily and take your chances - you might save a few bucks more.....

Two years ago I purchased my rig - and spent about $500 on parts....I watched the sales over the Christmas season, and by buying parts at different times (total time between purchases would be about 3 months), I could have saved about $50.....

The really "big deals" are the lost leaders the big box stores sell (i.e. that "no name" 32" LCD TV for $99).....

Yeah I bought a Samsung 840 Evo 250GB on Newegg for $119 with promo code. Two weeks later the sale price, and I am dead serious here - was $139. Exact same drive.

I went ahead and made a list using the price charts and finding the lowest dips in the chart. Going to base my purchases on those dips.

Glad I came here to ask all you guys! Many thanks!

You should check PC Part Picker regularly - they generally list the cheapest prices for parts on most of the major PC retailers and show which ones have deals on shipping.

Yeah, I've been doing that a bit. Switched out my GTX 760 Superclocked 4GB for a 2GB version and a couple other things. Officially dislike mail-in rebates.

I already cut my costs by $200 through various methods, I think I can cut it another $150 if I play my cards right.

I appreciate all the help, real exciting about building my first rig.
