Hey there. Just looking for some feedback and opinions.

So I left today for class. My AC in my room hangs over my PC. Unfortunately, while I was away, the AC started leaking water into my PC (the top of the case has an open vent with a lot of holes in it). I had left it on, and when I got home, it was off and had plenty of drips of water over it. I quickly dried off what I could with a towel. From what I can tell, most of the damage landed on top of my GTX 780 from EVGA.

Being the ignorant I am, I turned it on after I dried it a bit with the towel. Everything seemed to be working fine except for the card. The card lights up fine, but you can hear the fan on it spinning incredibly fast and loud. Nothing was being displayed on my monitors but everything seemed to be powered all right.

So here’s where I would like some feedback. I’m currently letting it sit with a fan on it hoping for it to dry even more incase it is still wet. Obviously, I’m not the smartest guy for computers and don’t have much experience. So I was wondering what you guys would suggest to do? Do you think the card is not going to work again after turning it on? Should I try some method that you guys know of? Or should I just RMA it? (from what I read, I have no idea how to do it or any experience with it at all, I don’t even know if I qualify). Thanks for reading. Hope someone has some knowledge.

Solution
Well usually the suggestion is:

- Do not turn on
- Uninstall graphics card.
- Remove heat sink.
- Clean residue left by water off with Rubbing Alcohol.
- Let dry for 24 to 48 hours.
- Reinstall heatsink and test.

But we missed step one which is to prevent shorts. You may have shorted it out. You can try these steps to see or RMA it if you can. I would at least try to RMA it because you may get rust later.
