Ram speed question

Currently using MSI H97 GAMING 3 mobo. it stated to use up to 1600mhz rams only. does that mean I cant use rams with higher frequency? and does the frequency matters at all? cheers

That board probably only supports up to 1600MHz memory. Look in BIOS and see if there is a multiplier for higher than 1600MHz. Probably isn't there but is worth checking.
