For $1300, is this Gaming / Editing PC solid?

For this build, I would like to have 60fps or more on games such as BF4, GTA 5, or even CS:GO on Medium / High / Ultra settings. I also like to record and edit gameplay. So having an SSD for Sony Vegas Pro 12, Photoshop CS6, and other big programs would help a lot (Especially the fast boot times with Windows 8.1). One thing I'm not sure I should do is either grab a GTX 970, or any of the R9 Radeon 280x - 290x series.

You certainly have the parts to do what you want. Overclocking would make it even better. As far as the graphics, the 770 is pretty good, but I would go with something a little more stout. Since the GTX 970 hasn't been tested thoroughly yet (that I know of), on paper with it's specs in reference form, it should perform similarly to the R9 280/280x. If I were you, I'd go for the R9 280x.

Tough choice to choose between the R9 280x and the GTX 770. I originally was going to go for the 280x, but then I saw how the GTX 770 out performs it. I just pretty much looked at this.
