I just got a SSD (240GB) for my games. I want to move all of them from my 1.5 TB HDD so that I can use the HDD for other purposes. What is the fastest way to do this? Will it have any affect on my games performance? Should I only move like the games that I play the most? They're all Steam games and I know how to change the directory and everything, I just need the fastest way to do it. I've read about cloning software but it seems like that only copies the whole drive, and I just want to move my games and their respective save files.

Look for a program called "free file sync" it can move files from one directory to another slightly faster than windows and seems more stable. If for any reason the transfer is interrupted it can compare the directories and go again. Its a bit more involved than a drag and drop and only marginally faster but I would say its much safer and more reliable, it can even do a checksum comparison after if you are worried about integrity

Hey there, deadshots!

Yes, a cloning software is the fastest way to clone OS and data.
I personally like Acronis: http://www.acronis.com/en-us/articles/cloning-software/
This software allows you to exclude files from cloning process, so it gets even faster once you remove the data you don't need.
But I have a question: Is your OS on the SSD or on the HDD?
I'd suggest for better and faster performance to do a fresh install of the OS on the SSD first.
If it's just Steam games that you want to move the faster way is to just copy the whole Steam folder with games to the SSD. When you run the .exe file from that folder on the freshly installed OS it will automatically reinstall any additional files needed. If any games need a reinstall, they will on the first startup.
Just make sure you have backed up all your game saves first.

Hope this helped. :)

Well, then I guess Moving a Steam Installation and Games guidelines on Steam support worked for you, right?
Basically you don't seem to be needing a cloning software for that!

Hope I helped. Happy gaming! :)
