The two components in the title, on an Asus Z97-A, all inside a Corsair 300R. Is it all going to fit? Or are some components not going to fit together? I'm referring to those unnecessary frills on the memory sticks, and the monstrous mass of the V8 GTS itself.

Any 160mm+ cooler will be lucky to fit inside that case, and no chance with that big of a cooler. Memory clearance is not an issue, RJX are normal profile.

The 300R is listed as haveing an HSF clearance of 170mm. The V8 GTS has dimensions listed as 154 x 149.8 x 166.5mm, and HS dimensions listed as 154 x 140 x 153.5mm. What do these numbers mean? So even if dimensions are smaller than listed clearance, that doesn't mean they fit?

The last dimension is height, no they won't fit. Don't rely on website specs, read some reviews, any big cooler like 160mm D14 finds it hard to fit, that cooler definitely won't fit without pushing the side panel outwards.

I see. Off the top of your head, are there any mid-tower cases with decent cable management features that would fit in a V8-GTS?

After some googling, I've seen reviews saying that it won't fit, and lots of other saying that it will fit without side fans. Is there anyone who has actually, from experience, seen that these two will or will not go together?

I'm pretty sure it'll fit in Fractal R4 w/o side fans:

^They used it in the test system.

Can't be sure about 300r though, its known to frown with big coolers, I wouldn't risk it until someone can say with proof that it fits.

Hello notneps,

The Ripjaws X will fit underneath the V8gts. According to Corsairs website the 300R will support coolers up to 170mm in height. Our V8GTS is 166.5mm in height.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

First off – the CPU cooler. Here 300R can accommodate the Noctua NH-U12P pictured. This CPU cooler is 158mm in height and there isn’t a great deal of remaining clearance so the bigger flagships like Noctua NH-D14 and Thermalright Silver Arrow which are 160mm in height could well struggle to fit.

This is what bothers me if it'll fit or not.
