One day i turn my computer on and it just doesnt start and the light on the mobo is not lit up.. so immediatly went to Best Buy and bought to new 4gb sticks of ram.. because that i was on my last stick the other one already went corrupt.. turn out that wasnt it.. cause when it didnt work i took my comp apart and put it together again and now the light comes on and will power on but im not getting any video and my graphincs card fan goes for a second then stops then goes for a second and stops, till i turn the computer off. plus i tried to use the onboard graphics and they didnt work either.. so im leaning towards it being my mobo which i have been meaning to replace for a long time.. but im curious if it could be because of my PSU or maybe my harddrive.. so if any one has any suggestions it would help.. im ordering the i5 3570k soon with a new psu and i want to think that it will end all of this... thank you .

MOBO- h-alvorix RS880 uATX
Processor-AMD dual core (not sure exact one)
GFX- XFX Radeon 7770
PSU- XFX Pro 650w

I cant narrow this down without saying you change the motherboard or the powersupply, but I think you're right in thinking that. It sounds like the onboard video is fried and the motherboard is frying ram, this would suggest a power problem yes. The light on the motherboard not being on would confirm this. In experience a bad motherboard will do all sorts of odd stuff but a PSU will tend to have problems booting or crash under load, only way to know for sure is to test both with known good parts

that is my guess.. i would figure since ive ugpraded some major components before upgrading my cpu and mobo it could put a strain on my motherboard.. we will know soon

yeah.. ive thought about going to a computer store and asking but i figure they will charge me $60+ just to take alook at it and tell me my mobo is fried haha... so i guess ill just buy my new mobo and cpu already since i was planning on it anyway and if its not fixed by then, then im sure the solution is obvious.. plus ive had this mobo with these upgrades for years now and it has been through advanced gaming the whole way.. so i maybe i should be grateful it even made it this far

Yeah, a store will probably do that to you, there a few good friendly ones here but some really will just rip you off for nothing. New mobo would be my choice too. One for to look for on a bad motherboard, do any of the capacitors look like they have blown? google for some pictures if your not sure, this would be a guarantee the board is at fault - cheap boards often have this problem. I've seen ones where the tops will buldge right up to the point they look like they will explode!

well i used to work at a computer store a year or so thats exactly what we did to other people... plus i have been using some of my prior knowledge to narrow it down.. i was really hoping it was just a blown capacitor so i could know it was my mobo already hahaa that was the first thing i looked for!

hey man.. i went back and rebuilt my computer (same parts just took apart and acted as though it was a new build) and after i got done i went ahead and cleared the BIOS password and cleared the CMOS settings.. (not sure if thats what did it) but when i finally turned it back on it didnt do the fan thing... my computer turned on regularly for 3 seconds id say and even started to show video... then for no reason turned on... anything??
