Hey, So probably Everyone knows the new Maxwell GPUs are announced...Maxwell is nice with all the features and stuff but Now I just went Blank after hearing GTX 980 has only display port 1.2 ports.

As we know Display Port 1.3 was announced so why didn't they implement that in the GTX 980?

PS: I was gonna buy gtx titan black but waited to buy GTX 980 for its display port 1.3 but now all the specs shows me its with Display Port 1.2 wat is goin on over here?

More about : wtf gtx980 dosen display port

Did you know that Thunderbolt 2.0 has been out for near 1 years now, do you see it regularly in laptops or any devices?

Just because the standard is released does not mean its cost effective to add.

GPUs chips have a 5 year development cycle. That means that the Maxwell 2 (probably just Maxwell) was conceived and started its life 5 years ago.
Graphics card PRODUCTS have a 6 month development cycles, so the GTX980 was conceived 6 months ago.

To put that in context. The DP 1.3 was announced 3 DAYS ago...

Get where I am going with this?

The standard was released this month.
Design work based on this standard can start now, which means you might see something on the market in a year or two.
Aside from that, Displayport 1.2 can already handle 4096 × 2160 × 30 bpp @ 60 Hz
