first things first.
here are the monitors.
https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=wish_lis...
and here is my gpu
http://www.mwave.com.au/product/sapphire-amd-radeon-r9-...
and the rest of my build.
https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=wish_lis...

ok so im moving houses. new gaming setup etc.
obviously im going to attempt to use my 4k display as my main screen. would i be able to game decently with my gpu at 4k resolution. like would i have a decent fps. i can't add in a 2nd gpu and crossfire them (obviously the same gpu). could i game decently with a decent fps or would it be worth putting in a 2nd gpu?

More about : game decent display

Short answer : no

Even with 2 of them GPUs, you will have to make sacrifices in detail settings. Its still early days for 4k gaming, its a hell of a lot of pixels to push.

Some games will do just fine with 2 of them GPUs, but demanding titles youll still struggle to average 30-40fps with details turned down.

You could always scale it down to 1440p on that display and see how that looks - its still much better than 1080p, but only half as much as 4k.

would you still recommend getting a 4k display? i mean playing non demanding games and watching movies would still be kick ass. wouldn't it?

Personally, I wouldnt bother yet. You'll be paying a lot to be an early adopter, but there is still hardly any content available to watch in 4k, and even the highest power pcs struggle to game at 4k...

I would just get a nice 1440p display (2560x1440), which still looks great and is close to double the amount of pixels as 1080p, so still a big upgrade.

but couldn't i just downgrade the resolution to a 1440p display and then use the 4k if say in future i got a really super hd movie or a super awesome gpu.

but im assuming with average everyday usage a 4k won't lag at all. e.g youtube browsing etc

Yeah sure you can, but the scaling for 4k isnt great at the moment. i.e a 1080p youtube video will be tiny unless you run it full screen.

Plus, in the future there will be better and cheaper 4k displays, whereas you will be paying top dollar and have no content to run on it.

i have a feeling this sounds like an incredibly dumb question... BUT
say if i could play a game in 1920x1080 at 150fps. does that mean i could play a game at 3840 ×2160 with at least 60 fps?
2x the resolution... half the frame rate...
