I went out and bought a new, mid-grade computer, just to play TW Rome 2. While not a top of the line computer...It well exceeded the min. requirements for the game. And it played it fine (Even though, I know, the game itself had bugs, etc..) But my computer played it just fine. Now, since the patches, I cant get it to load passed the 1st screen, without it shutting down. I don't know much about PC's at all, and I've tried uninstalling and re-installing it and doing a disk defrag. and even refreshing my whole computer and losing a lot of my stuff on it... And still I cant get the game to play! Can someone please help me figure out what I did, or what I need to do, to get back to just being able to play the game... Because I love it, and its the whole reason I got the computer. I saw somewhere that I might not be uninstalling it completely, when I do an uninstall...But I don't know how to do that? And when I go to re-install it, my available disk-space is getting smaller and smaller... So somewhere, it must be keeping stuff that Im trying to get rid of... Because I really don't have much else on the computer. Especially since I reset the whole thing! I even uninstalled the other game I had on it and my music!

If you uninstall games via steam, then it doesnt dump anything in the recycle bin. I you go onto My computer copy and paste this into the bar at the top: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common if that doesnt work, then try C:\Program Files (x64)\Steam\SteamApps\common.

In that root folder, there should be a folder which either says Total War Rome 2 or Creative Assembly. Right click on that, hit properties and it should show you how much space it is taking up.

If the value exceeds 1GB then it is not uninstalled and you need to go back onto steam > library and hit uninstall then go back to the folder and delete everything in there for good measure too.

If the value doesnt exceed 1GB then delete anything left anyway.

After this...
Make sure you are running the latest drivers for your computer, this might be the performance issue. I'd also run antivirus and antimalware/adware programs as well.

As for the disk space, make sure that you are cleaning out your recycle bin after you remove files, as they will still take up space in the recycle bin. Just keep in mind that once you remove them from the recycle bin, there isn't any easy way to recover them. And instead of just deleting the folder the programs are in, uninstall then from the add/remove programs program in windows. Then run disk defragmentation on all of your drives.

After this you want to download a program called CCleaner which is from a company called piriform, link is here: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download. Either hit run, or find the box that allows you to keep passwords (it will wipe the auto fill in stuff on your browser that allows you to auto sign in to amazon etc otherwise)

After doing either of the above then go back onto steam, redownload and install it. This will make sure you have a totally clean install.

If the problem persists, repost here and we can go through and take a look if its some kind of hardware issue.
