Hey
I am trying to switch a SSD from IDE to AHCI after install.
tried the registry way, all the start values (msahci, pciide, iastorv) are 0, but when changing BIOS option to AHCI windows (7) won't boot.

more info:
*AS-SSD says the ssd is on IDE
*motherboard is gigabyte P55M-UD2, BIOS firmware F8
*in BIOS there were two option for ide\ahci: "PCH sata control mode" and "onboard SATA\IDE device". changed both to AHCI.
*there is another HD connected, not sure in which mode
*under device manager -> IDE ATAPI controllers there is an AHCI entry, not sure what it means.

any help will be appreciated :)

p.s the whole reason im messing with this is constant BSODs after switching to Crucial mx100. to anyone considering buying this "value" SSD, I strongly recommend visiting the crucial forums first (too bad i didn't)

Solution
1) Open the case, make sure the SSD does connect to the blue color SATAII port (intel), the white color is GA chipset.
2) Clear the CMOS by removing the battery.
3) Try to reboot, I think you should be able to boot. If you can try load either " Load Fail-Safe Defaults " or "Load Optimized Defaults" in the BIOS to boot into the window.
4) If you can boot in the windows, using microsoft " fit it" to fix the problem. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976
5) Also after all, try to update the intel chipset driver too. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=20775 If you can update the BIOS, that will be much better, but you don't have to. From the manual I see you can change the AHCI mode from IDE under the "Integrated...

From the manual I see you can change the AHCI mode from IDE under the "Integrated Peripherals" tab, check the manual page 51, but it maybe the old version manual.
