I hope the extra 11$ wouldn't be a problem:)

Solution

970 SLI would need at leat 700-750 watts, and as the 980 consumes more power, the extra 100 watts couldn't hurt. Anyways, it's always good to have some headroom as efficiency decreases as the load rises.

^ He was going to get 970 SLI. You negated the need for SLI. PSUs are at peak efficiency at around 80%, 300W gpu, 250w for rest of the system, and 150w headroom should be enough.
Also, heard problems about the acx cooler .

I didn't COMPLETELY negate the need. Later, in about 5-7 years, OP will need another 970 to play the latest games. THAT'S when SLI comes in

There are problems NOW, but nothing is permanent. EVERYTHING changes.

lies about the ACX cooler. Most of that is bs from people who don't get how heat transfer with DC pipes work.
