The GTX 980 is more future proof as it beats the GTX 780 Ti in benchmarks and is of the newest generation, so go with that.

Go with the 980. Performance wise, it either does better as or just as good as the 780Ti, all while costing about $150 less, and using less power, thus saving money in the long run. It also packs all the new technology that wasn't offered on the 780Ti.

980. Thought waiting for the 980Ti or 390x could be a more viable option.

980 gets nearly same fps as the 780ti, BUT 980 supports dx12 fully whereas 780ti doesn't support it fully, 980 probs cheaper and draws less power so get 980

Actually in 1080p and 1440p the 980 gets a nice little boost. The 980Ti is where it's gonna be at though. And all the 980 supports more is two features.
