Hi guys,

I'm not sure how strong my PSU needs to be for my PC I'm building:
-i5 4690k (i'll OC it)
-dark rock pro 3
-16gb g.skill ares 1866
-Samsung EVO 840 120 gb
-Seagate 1TB HDD
-gtx 970
-phanteks enthoo luxe
-for MB I'm not sure, Asrock z97 (killer?)

In the future I may add another HDD, but that's only maybe.

If you aren't planning on going SLI at any point in the future than any 500-550 watt supply that is good quality (Like Say a Seasonic, Corsair, XFX, Antec) will run a machine like that with no problems. Your machine will probably need in the 300-350 watt range and you want a little head room so even at 350 watts if you didn't want to go over 75% of your capacity the PSU only has to deliver 466.

Lots of people recommend the XFX 550 watt supply because they don't cost a huge amount and a solidly built.

The CX500 should run fine if it's got a sticker on it like on this page: http://www.corsair.com/en-ca/cx500-80-plus-bronze-certified-power-supply . . . 12v line rated at 38 Amps, or 456 watts. That would put you at using 65-75% of your rated capacity. I'm pretty sure the CX500 had some other models where the 12V line was only rated at slightly over 400 watts, in which case it would run but it would be pushing the unit pretty hard in that case and I would recommend replacing it just for the added headroom. Just check the sticker on the side.

My PSU has different sticker on it, so I guess it isn't powerful enough?

@rk_ftw XFX TS 550W has lower price in my country compared to other PSU on tier 2 A list, so I think I'll go with that one.

EDIT: Should I go for the Bronze or Gold certified?
BTW thank you for explaining me what C6/C7 is :D
