Hi i was thinking of buying two 970 and put them in sli will i be able to run both of them at full potential with my current mother board which is Asus P8Z77-V LK. i know that i will be able to run but i want to know weather it will effect the over all performance or not. And also will i be able to run them with my current power supply which is cooler master 800W Gold. or should i change it?
Than you for the answer in advnace.

The board is fine to run that, it supports 2x 8x which is fine. They are around 145w stock each, so your power supply should be fine too! I'm never keen on Sli though, a single card is always better, until I see some benchmarks I'd hold my cash - a sole 980 could be better for less money

Seeing those results I am highly considering getting a 970 with the intent to drop a second one in there when I decide to get a monitor that does more than 1920x1080. And the 970 is gonna be about what a 770 runs now, awesome.

Hi, I'm just curious if this motherboard can also run the asus gtx 980? The motherboard shows that it supports pci 3.0 x 16: 2 (x16/0 or x8/x8), can someone elaborate on what this means? I'm looking at the gtx 970 and 980, it shows that the interface is for pci 3.0, but it doesn't state whether its x8 or x16.

It relates to the speed of the port, how much of the bus bandwidth is allocated to each card. There is really no benefit to x16/x16 over x8/x8 that you will notice in games. Testing has been done showing this, so there are no worries going SLI, it will perform fine.
