This hard-drive initally came from a RAID 0 setup which I could not recover (old laptop died). Now I'm trying to use it in my new laptop but I can't format the disk or otherwise access it in Windows.
Despite the drive being only 500GB, Windows reads it as 1TB (probably the RAID setup). When I open Disk Management, Windows asks to initialize/make a boot record. If I attempt to do so, I get "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)". I can't initalize or format the disk or create a new partition or anything. I'm not interested with recovery; I just want the storage space.
