I have a Packard bell easy note TE. I have had it for just under a year. Just recently I went to turn it on and it loaded up, but just went to a black screen with my cursor visible. It also has a slight groaning noise under the touch pad. I have tried leaving it, pressing f8 and I don't have an option to go to safe mode. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Give both of these a try
Solution 1
• Turn on your computer and tap the "F8" key to get "Windows Advanced Options" •( if boot menu appears, press "Esc" key and keep tapping on the F8 key) .
•Select "Safe Mode"
•Go to Control Panel -> Backup and Restore > Recover system settings or your computer > Open System Restore > follow the wizard to restore the system to the state before the issue occurred.

Solution 2
•Open the BIOS > Load default settings > Make sure that your hard drive is detected in the BIOS.
•Set your hard drive (where OS is installed) as primary boot device.
• Save the settings and exit from the BIOS
