i now join the tons of others who have downgraded there 8 pcs to windows 7. im not disappointed that i did but i am afraid that my pc may not have windows 7 drivers. i mean, i assume that it would. my pc: http://www.asus.com/us/Desktops/M51AC/

after installing windows 7 oem (i asked on the seven forums and they said i could buy an oem windows 7 and that it would be ok) but then i bought a new pc and after having windows 8, i would much rather have windows 7. so i ask, how can i get the drivers i need so i can get online, and get my 7 pc working as it did for windows 8.

i wiped my recovery drive to get back space. now i realize, i can send away to asus for a recovery disc, maybe i may do that, but if possible, i would like to get windows 7 working. so i need some help with getting things like my drivers for pc. would really appreciate some help. i only hope they are available for my computer.

that will simply not do it, you need to install specific drivers for the specific components. Such as this is a laptop: go the drivers section/disk and install; win 7 only installs the bast windows 7 componants.

You need to find out specifically what motherboard is installed inside your system. The model number may be printed on the actual board itself near the PCI-E slots. Then you'll need to go to the motherboard's support site and find the drivers for Windows 7.

Well I think if you would have upgrade to Windows 8.1 you would have liked it because you never have to see the Metro screens. Typically components drivers are created for the current OS only. Even if you buy a PC with Windows 7 and Windows 8 comes out the components makers don't usually redo old drivers. Now my suggestion is that you look at your wireless card manufacturer and see if they have a driver for windows 7 on their site. But it will be hard to find it on Asus's site.

i do realize this. i was also annoyed by all the crapware that came with my asus pc.

if i do go back to windows 8.1 it will be with an oem version and not the asus version though.

OK. Looks like we're going to have to open the case and look for a model number printed on the board itself. I think with ASUS boards, the model number is printed just below the PCI-Ex16 slot. If you could take an image and post it, that may help as well.

Hello Brendax,

Unfortunately, it appears that motherboard is installed primarily in the Fujitsu Lifebook laptop. If this is the case, then I would recommend looking up your model's laptop on Fujitsu's support web site and seeing if there are Windows 7 drivers available.

If it's not a Lifebook, I would recommend starting a new thread so the whole community will see it as a fresh thread and (hopefully) chime in.
