okay so my dumpy little netflix/mild-gaming pc has been overeating under loads recently. I tried installing new thermal paste, and used a couple different methods; covered whole die very thinly, covered whole die even thinner, thin vertical line on die smushed by heatsink, small bb sized dot on die smuhsed by heatsink, (and both vise-versa on the heatsink itself). Its still idling about 60c. Ive cleaned all the dust out, cleaned all the fans, etc. What am i missing here?

pentium d's are very famous for their heating issues trust me you bettre off changing it out .. you litterally can get a 3x faster core 2 duo for like $12 on ebay and amazon now so just get rid of it because an upgrade is not expensive

oh and no matter how much thermal paste you place on that cpu its still going to be as hot as a stove that was lit for an hour .. lol ..

Yeah, Pentium D's ran insanely hot, and even the lowest end C2D would be a massive performance upgrade.
