Ladies and Gents, I am building my first PC after the expensive (over $1000) i7 HP laoptop I bought over three years ago has been begging me to let it die (zombie bit when warranty expired after year one, and it's now like Ed from Shaun of the Dead).

I agonized over buying, but have been convinced by an office-mate to build. This is my first build, his 13th or so.

I am a solo-practice attorney who will be using this PC for the office, but will also be transporting back home a good bit for gaming, video editing, and God knows what on weekends (unless I eventually start working from home again). The laptops I have looked at were all pricey, and I don't have much faith of any of them lasting me three years.

Original budget of $1000 has creeped up to $1300+. What could/should I exchange out?

CPU Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core - $300
CPU Cooler Corsair H50 57.0 CFM Liquid $60
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 Micro ATX LGA1150 $120
Memory G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 $76.50 (purchased)
Storage Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" SSD $85
Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM $70 (purchased)
Video Card EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Superclocked $140
Case Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 MicroATX Mini Tower $100
Power Supply Corsair 550W ATX12V / EPS12V $70
Optical Drive Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer $20
Operating System Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit) $90
Monitor Asus VX229H 21.5" $150

Eventually I would add a 1-2TB WD Green HD, a 16GB RAM kit, and a Lite-On Optical drive for printing DVDs.

Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated.

Update: I have changed cooler out, but may change again if water filled is unnecessary: (http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Drofnib/saved/Qfn9TW)

I would not use an H50 CLC. It is out of date. Budget air coolers like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO will perform better and be quieter.

See review sites like HardwareSecrets and FrostyTech for some very lengthy product lists that include/compare performance between coolers. This will help you find a good option for your budget.

Thank you! I had the corsair h50 listed because of price, but the h55 and h60 are all listed for the same price currently. I do not plan to overclock yet, but do anticipate doing that in a year or so. So the water cooler is unnecessary?
