Okay so I am building a new pc in December and I am quite lost how to spend my 1300 euro budget which is around 1600 dollars, might be a bit more. there can be a nudge in this if there is a good reason.

What I need from my new pc:
Stick around for about 3 years then get a new one has to stay okayish first year has to be able to max everything.
7.1 surround sound either on board or extra soundcard
at least 16GB memory
Capable of handling 3 monitors, 27inch LED perhaps ill give gaming on 3 monitors at the same time a go, but this is more so meant for multitasking etc.

Whats does not matter:
Energy usage :D
Sound production :p I always use headphones
Windows version will be 8.1 the newest i can get my hands on

Parts that will be available from my old pc:
Intel i7 - 2600
HDD 1,5 TB

besides that, the pc holds a Nvidia GT 545, 450W powersupply, 2x (4GB elixer ram modules 1333 Hz i think) so really nothing in there to write home about. Couple case fans and a Cooler Master v8.. not a great cooler really just looks good.

Now my options, Build 1 type A (The Recycler) minimizing the use of my budget or so i thought.

Build 1, type B not using the 2 cards in crossfire.. adapting to a smaller motherboard perhaps and using a single more powerful card. Ill need advise on what is comparable or better ?

single gpu budget here around 400-500 dollar

Build type 2 A, don't reuse the processor go with a completely new build more based on new stuff coming out etc. no idea what direction to go in here. either when using those 2 cards
total budget, 1600 Dollar the cards will cost me around 400 :)

Build type 2 B, everything based around a single more powerful card. total budget 1600 Dollar

Build type 3, Save a bit more go bigger, 2000 dollar budget may include the cards as well what are my options here ?

Please help me out here because I am quite lost as to what direction to go to and what would work out the best. Thank you :)

I'd go with all new., the 2600 is possibly still viable today, but there is noticeably better out there now. Your budget should provide a fantastic PC at 1500 Euros without needing to go up.

No soundcard is needed

instead of the 280s in crossfire, see if you can get the new $550 GeForce GTX 980
