Hi there,

I just recently bought a Hyper 212 EVO because I wanted to start overclocking. I was able to install the fan just fine. Also after reading (actually skimming) through some forum posts on how to overclock, I tried overclocking. I wanted a small OC, 4.0 GHz, at first to make sure that it was working before I continued any further. So I used CLICKBIOS II to change the "Adjust CPU Ratio" to 40, the voltage to 1.1 V and then I restarted the computer. I assumed that everything was fine at that point; however when I used OCCT to put my CPU under load and check my speed, it was still showing the stock speed of 3.4 GHz. To double check this, I used CPU-Z also and it showed the same thing, 3.4 GHz.

When I checked CLICKBIOS II again, my settings did save. The CPU ratio was still 40 and the voltage was 1.1 V. To make sure of this, I booted into the BIOS and it showed the same thing, a Current CPU Frequency of 100 * 40 MHz. It seems that the settings that I wanted did save, but it doesn't seem to be working.

I must be missing something simple or I skimmed over something important that I shouldn't have like an idiot.

Could someone please explain to me why I am still running at stock speeds?

Edit: It seems like it's staying at 3.4 GHz, even in idle, no matter what. I thought it should drop down to 1.6 GHz when it's idle and it only goes higher when it needs to.

Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G45
CPU: i5-3570k
Fan: Hyper 212 EVO

Best Regards,

Johnny

I was able to figure it out. I was right; I was an idiot and I forgot something. I didn't install Intel ME, so I didn't have Intel Turbo Boost available. Once I installed the Intel ME and flashed the BIOS, I was able to overclock just fine.

Answer: Don't be stupid like me.
