I've installed 8GB (2X 4GB) into a m5a99x and the G.Skill Sniper is running at 1600mhz as opposed to 1866.

Looking online it seems the only way to get this to run at full speed is to manually overclock, as opposed to setting to XMP (Which I was hoping haha)

I don't want to OC the CPU, still running stock cooler etc so don't want anything altering to that.

IS there anyway how to OC the RAM and ensure it's running at it's optimum.... Or am I wasting my time and the difference between 1600mhz cas 11, and 1866mhz cas 9 is not going to be noticed??????

More about : ram running 1866mhz

Yes 1600/11 has it running at it's defaults, if your mobo doesn't have XMP look for DOCP or EOCP and enable that (those are 2 ways AMD utilizes OC profiles for DRAM) and select 1866 ('shouldn't' require any OC of the CPU) ;)

Nice one, I'll have a look at that. I did see the DOCP before and sure when I selected it, my CPU OC'd to 4ghz... unless I selected something else at same time but certain CPU increased and ram went down lower than 1600. I'll double check later and change only that and post back, as say may be me altering several things at same time

Thanks for help!!

Thanks Tradesman1!!!!

Selected D.O.C.P in AI Tweaker settings, then DRAM had several options, including 2 profiles for the RAM. Selected and done, CPU running at stock too, so I reckon first time around I must have tweaked something else too giving me different results.

Now running 1866hz CAS9.

Much appreciated for the help, many thanks!
