Get the one which style best fits your taste. They're all great.

The EVGA version is the cheapest right now.

Why avoid reference coolers? I have been looking at 970s and I specifically WOULD buy a reference card.

Why not get a dual-fan card for the same price?

I usually buy cards with the future in mind and that usually means the possibility for a dual card setup. Blower cards are always better for multi-card builds.

Modern blower cards perform basically the same as non-reference cards, have less parts to go wrong, are a more proven design, and are not nearly as loud as people make it seem. I can't even hear my 660ti's even at 60% fan speed. Over time they prove to be more reliable as well.

Interesting. I guess you learn something new everyday. Also what do you mean by they have a more proven design?

Blower cards were the first fan-cooled GPU design years ago, and they still work. Nvidia has used the same general design since the gtx200 cards and it works well.

Agreed. Now that I think about it reference coolers should be a lot better for a multi gpu setup since they blow out the heat from the back of the card. Before the 7950 I had a 9800GTX+ with a blower fan and even after all these years it still runs perfectly. I could hear the fan around 60% but it wasn't that bad. At least compared to the 7950.

So I guess it comes down to whether or not he plans to use multiple cards rather than upgrading to a single more powerful card. If that's the case I also like the Gigabyte edition, the backplate looks really nice and they even put a LED windforce logo on the top of the card. Not to mention their improved 3 fan design.

The gigabyte is definitely a good card.

I can recall buying a GeForce pro in the dark ages of 2000 or 2001 that has a tiny axial fan , and a huge 32 mb of graphics RAM .
At the time it was the most powerful card available .
And it fried when the fan stopped spinning from bearing failure .
:-(

The leaf blowers hmmmmmmmmmm I seem to recall they turned up on AMD cards first . After running a 6870 with one for 18 months I do not care what their virtues are . Im never owning one again
