Just as the title says. I've tried changing the bios settings to make it usb friendly but it still wont boot. It all just stays at the same black screen with a flashing underscore in the top left of the screen _ .

Ive tried unplugging my ssd then booting again, then vice versa with the hard drive unplugged but nothing changed.

Where do I go from here?

Is it plugged into a USB 2 or 3 port?? Because I'm pretty sure you cant install windows using a USB 3 port

Unless you install drivers for it. You have to use a USB 2 port. And what did you use to put windows 7 on the flash drive? I take it, you're talking about a flash drive?

It's in a usb 2 port, there's only two of them on this mobo. My friend just copied the iso files onto the usb for me. Though last night I read that you had to use some sort of windows tool to copy windows 7 onto a usb, he said that he was able to copy then boot up 2 computers in the past without any tool. So im not sure about that

Thats why it doesn't work you dont copy the contents to it. It has to be done properly

And you do need a program to do this

Like this http://rufus.akeo.ie/ put the flash drive in run this program. Make sure the flash drive is under device. Because it'll format it.

If this is a UEFI system (If you want to use it - Also make sure UEFI is enabled in the BIOS). And secureboot is disabled if you're installing Windows 7

Change partition scheme to GPT add the ISO wait for it to finish. Reboot then boot from the flash drive

I followed good instructions here:

http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7vista-from-usb-drive-detailed-100-working-guide/

Go through the CMD steps and windows will treat the flash drive like a windows 7 CD. the problem I am having is installing the asrock drivers to get the system up. It sits in the windows 7 install guide and drivers fail to install.

You can try the Microsoft USB tool for converting ISO to readable data from the motherboard through the USB.

You should then be able to boot up the computer with the USB installation, make sure that USB is at the top of the list in the BIOS priority order.
