Basically, the prices of new CPU's are insane. Is it worth upgrading my 4 core 4790K for something better with 6-8 cores? Or should I overclock my 4790K (when it's necessary)?. Also, will 4790K bottleneck 2x 780 TI overclocked GPU's?

Few games use more than 2-3 cores so changing to haswell-E seems pointless.
It takes very little to get a 20% overclock on a 4790K. Just a decent cooler.

Your 4790K with a mild oc in the 4.0-4.4 range is as good as it gets today.

I cool my 4790K with Noctua NH-D14.

I noticed you got the same cooler and CPU. Have you overclocked it? If yes, is it worth it and if yes, by how much should I overclock it? Also, hopefully 4790K is not bottlenecking my SLI 780 TI.

I did at first, but then I figured, why bother?
The 4790K runs all day long at 4.0/4.4 .
I don't need more.
With good cooling, that might go to 4.6 at a higher vcore than I want.
If you oc, monitor your vcore. Once it gets past 1.25 or 1.30, your heat goes up quickly. A good cooler can keep cooling it, but you start to get into a more dangerous voltage range. Particularly for 24/7 operation.
For gaming, I think you are better off with a 4790K than even the new 8 core haswell E chips.

Thank you. When you said 4.6 you mean 4.6/5.0 on turbo right?
