I have a question and am hoping to get an answer soon. This is what I have in my system build. I have an ASUS Rampage III Black Ed. MO, a Intel I-7 990X Extreme processor and am looking to replace my current memory. Currently, I was running Corsair Dominator CMP24GX3M6A1600C9 .....but, my system was only recognizing 16 gigs out of the 24 gigs that were installed. Corsair want's to replace this memory with Corsair Vengenance CMZ24GX3M6A1600C9 . Is this memory as good as the Dominator series memory? I WOULD LIKE TO....upgrade the speed (MHz) of the memory to something much "faster". Any suggestions? I tried to install and run Corsair Dominator CMG8GX3M3A2000C8 memory, but my system...the motherboard actually....wouldn't boot? Is this memory compatible with my system components? Do I need to adjust the timing in the bios for this particular memory to work...run in my system? Should I not try to run such a high speed memory in my system and just take and use the memory that Corsair is offering me to replace my old memory? Thanks for your input and answers to this question.

I originally built the system about 2-3 years ago....for both Gaming as well as for Rendering images for use in webdesign, graphic arts and photography....I have two ASUS GTX 680's (Direct cu II Top...graphic's cards) installed in this system. Again, I am looking for better...faster performance. Thanks.

I have listed several memory options available to me. I am sure that there are others that will work as well. I just like the Dominator series memory (personal preference), but don't really know the difference between the Dominator series and the Vengenace series.

Given the useage you describe, you're unlikely to notice any appreciable difference between DDR3 1600 and higher speed memory.

I found a similar board to yours and it appears that with higher speed memory, you may have issues running 3 dimms of 8gb.

Check out the QVL for memory on the Asus website for your MB.
