As title says is my Ax860 psu enough to run the card plus components safely? iv heard horror stories about psu's like mine being destroyed in benchmarking of the card and dont really want it to go down and take my components with it as i havent the money to shell out for a whole new system should it occur, the components im running are:

4670k @ 4.2ghz
mobo, ram, custom loop, one r9 295x2, one SSD, one HDD and a soundcard. I can provide details of exact components if needed.

any help is much appreciated :)

From what I've seen, it will run it. An r9 295x2 can draw up to 600w, so your psu can handle it. Most likely the people who blew their psu's on it pushed it too hard.

Just don't try to do massive overclocks. Most people suggested 1000w for overclocking.
It will run fine though that's a great psu.

Just to clarify? it is the Corsair 860i psu? platinum.

Hey just reading through your reply and I am in a similar position, my current build is as linked.

I was wondering, if I XMP the ram to its 2133 speed on this power supply will I have issues you think?

Its a strong card and my system runs cool and smooth right now but I think I may get a touch more performance pushing up to 2133 from the 1333 its sitting at, but the bump up will add heat and power draw I believe, I'm just not sure how much.

Does running XMP ram profiles even count as an overclock though as it does tweak voltages?

Note: your RAM is meant to be run at 2133mhz and 1.6v. So to get that you'll have to do that to your CPU as well.

Pushing up the memory speed will get your faster rendering etc. But in my opinion it's not worth it.
Other than that yes, the AX 860 is a great psu and it'll handle it just fine. The RAM needs little Wattage to operate.

-good luck
