Basically as the title says. My gaming laptop of two years has bit the dust, it short circuited (long story involving dogs that chew cords) and i'm in the market for a new system for gaming. I've been doing research on whether to build my own desktop or buy a gaming laptop. Right now I'm either going to buy an Alienware 17 gaming laptop or build a new desktop on ibuypower or some other wesbite (i have never built a desktop before so any and all feedback or advice is appreciated. My budget is around 2500$ give or take another 500$. Please help, and thanks in advance!

All that stress is why your laptop failed so soon. It would've lasted longer as a non gaming laptop. With that said go with a desktop this time. Will last longer and is a much better value

with $2500-$3000 you could get a monstrosity of a desktop computer, and a pretty good laptop.

I would strongly advise you to get a desktop unless you are a highly mobile gamer.

Ok.. Where should i start by going with a desktop? would it be hard to follow a guide to build my own Desktop? Since im going to be using it primarily for gaming, what parts would you recommend that i spend the most money on? (budget 2500) and what web site should i use to purchase said parts?

We can help you build it. Toms and the entire internet holds a wealth of information and guides for building your own Pc. If you have the least but common sense you can handle it.

Most of the money should go to (in order most to leasy important )
CPU/GPU
PSU
Motherboard
RAM
Case etc
