Hey I made a custom built computer. I had a problem with the power supply so I RMA'd it and now it booted. My mouse and keyboard wouldn't work. I restarted comp and they worked. Installed ubuntu and restarted comp and now none of my USBs seem to work. Help please I really wanna start using my system.

No. I thought Linux didn't need drivers? But how can I install them if USBs don't work so no mouse or keyboard? I already have ubuntu installed because the USBs worked for 1 boot than didnt again. Should I try and make a bootable USB for windows, see if they work again, install windows, and than drivers?

dont know that much about linux.maybe someone who does will chime in.depending on the version of linux you still should have a device manager of some sort that will tell you if the device is working properly, and a means to update the driver.ive heard that with linux you dont have to update drivers but im still pretty sure you need them in the first place.

Ok but how can I install drivers or check or check device manager without a USB? i need a keyboard to login (password) and a mouse to go on websites to download drivers or check driver manager.

so you had windows installed before ubuntu?windows will find drivers for you so that is probably why your usbs worked on reboot.do you have a legit copy of windows?if you do i would install that, unless someone more conversant in linux comes along with a solution.

After a lot of trial and error I managed to get Windows and installed drivers. It worked for a day. Than my screen froze so I forced a shutdown. Now when I start all fans spin for 1-2 seconds than all shut down and do it again and again. Tried to see if any cords loose and nothing.

check to make sure your cpu cooler is on securely (not loose).if its ok then uplug everything but the hdd with windows on it and try a reboot.

..Everything? Unplug the CPU, Video Card, CPU cable ect. Or just USBs? I have all USBs and VGA unplugged. I've tried different ram slots, clearing CMOS, removing cpu cooler, unplugging video card, and unplugging CPU cable but no combinations of these.

I still have the problem after checking the fan.
