antena to laptop to ipad

Solution
No, you can't use an external antenna with an iPad. I suppose you could set up a wireless access point with an external antenna (which acts as a relay for the wireless signal), but it seems a rather expensive solution to the problem. If your iPad doesn't work with the existing signal (which doesn't surprise me as the wireless performance of an iPad can be a bit hit and miss - I guess it's down to the internal antenna) then you're a bit stuck unless it justifies the expense of an access point.

Which iPad is it? Also are you trying to receive wifi from a router or wireless capable modem? I'm pretty sure all iPads models have built-in wifi radios, so just go into settings, and there should be a section called wifi. It will automatically identify available networks, and if yours shows up, connect to it.

I am on a boat in a marina, they put out Wi-Fi. My slip is out at the end so reception is come and go. One of the there guys told me to get an Alfa Antena. it works great on the laptop. Can that signal be picked by the Ipad?
