Your RAM is pretty old.....the best solution is to get what the make/model of your motherboard is - and how many sticks of RAM you have now - as well as how many slots are empty.....

Also - what operating system do you have (32-bit vs. 64-bit).

I do have 64bit Windows 7 Ultimate but my motherboard only supports 4GB(in 2 sticks). Its GA-P31-ES3G if it means something..

Your mobo supports Dual Channel DDR2 1066. Here is the actual supported memory list from Gigabyte: http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/motherboard...

So if its on the list it would work? Even with mixed memories? What about MHz speed? Do they need to be the same too? How fast is my memory though?

I would recommend using the same RAM in both slots - the dual channel RAM in a matched set will give you the best results. Mixing RAM will often result in problems - like the BSOD....

Sorry for asking too much questions, but what is BSOD? Also, is my ram only 400mhz fast?

Blue Screen of Death (nickname assigned to the crash screen for Microsoft OS).

Your current RAM is running at 400Mhz....if you mix it with the new RAM - you will be running at that speed as well....
