Hey guys. My old motherboard has recently died and I'm looking to buy a new one. I'm currently tight on budget so I'm looking for an economic one.

I've found this deal (MSI 760GM-P23 FX), which sounds like a perfect specs for such price and all of my previous hardware is compatible with it... well, almost all. My current RAM x2 4GB RAM sticks are both 1600 Mhz, while this new motherboard appears to be supporting maximum of 1333 Mhz.

If I connect my old RAM sticks, will I be damaging this new motherboard since they are more powerful than intended? It's not an issue for me that I'm not going to be getting my RAM fullest performance I only care whenever or not I'm shortening my motherboard's lifespan.

Nope, your motherboard will run the ram as 1333mhz. Keep in mind, ram ratings are rated MAXIUMUM values, not the values it will run at.

The DRAM should come up at the mobos default of 1066, then from there you can set them to 1333
