Hey duders,

So awhile ago my terrible 800w PSU burned out for good and I replaced it with a highly recommended PSU from here, the 550W XFX one..

nVidia recommends a 500w PSU for a 970... Is that 500w just for the GPU? If that is the case, i'm in trouble right?

Current build will be:
MB: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. P8P67 LE Rev X.0x
RAM: 8GB Crappy Generic Brand
CPU: i5 2400 with Evo 212 Fan
GPU: EVGA 4GB 970
PSU: XFX 550w
Storage: 128GB Samsung 830 SSD, 1 TB WD HDD

I'm probably forgetting something super relevant, let me know what that is. . .

Anyhow, thanks for the help!

Solution
Power supply recommendations are for the entire system. If NVidia recommends a 500watt PSU for a system with the GTX970 installed and you have a 550watt PSU, you're in the clear.

According to this (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-970-maxwell,3941-12.html) the 970 uses 200w under full load. Considering you have a good quality 550w with 45A on the 12V rail and a non overclockable cpu I'd say your good to go.
