Hi,
Ive got an older system thats acting up and I'd like to narrow down where the problem lies. I've been reconfiguring it a bit as I prepare a new build and little problems that I've been living with, now seem to be rearing their ugly heads more aggressively.

ASUS P5K-EPU - Core2 Duo E8400 - 6gb PC6400 RAM - Sapphire Radeon 3870 - 500W Antec Earthwatts

Symptoms:

1 - every few weeks BIOS will reset to default. System time stays set.

2 - Occasionally, on a cold boot I get "No Signal" Power cycling the PSU seems to clear the issue up. I just removed a GTX650Ti to another build and put the 3870 back in. Since this change, the No Signal issue is happening almost daily.

3 Also, No Signal after waking up from sleep, though it seems that despite the lights and fans kicking in the system isnt responding anyways. I discovered that when the BIOS resets itself it disables ACPI, so ive renabled that and have yet to see if that fixes this issue (it doesn't happen every time)

4 - Since repasting the cpu and swapping gpus (only changes), a delay of 3 - 5 seconds before Post has developed. Was always within a second. Now the hard drive and cd drive lights flash a bit before the power light comes on. then another couple seconds before post.

Any help pointing me towards the likely culprit is greatly appreciated.

with the system info in bios not holding...points to bad cmos or bad cmos battery. a weak or dead cmos battery does strange things. go to your local store by a 2 pack of cr203 batteries and change out the cmos battery then reset the bios again see if it works.
