What is the purpose of the build?

I'd get faster RAM than lower CL. 2133/9>1600/8>2133/11. In gaming, any of them will be good enough, I'd go with 2133/9 even here though.

Also, Trident X 16GB 2400MHz/CL10 are just $180:

^Best value/money IMO.

I am trying to build a gaming machine that I could use for entry level video/photo editing.

2400/10 or 2133/9 will be an ideal deal for both the purposes. Since 2400/10 is cheaper than the 2133/9 mentioned, I'd get Trident X. Excellent sticks both on stock, and for OCing.

Is there any benefit to of using 1.5v opposed to 1.65v, other than less power usage? And I know this is a really noob question to ask but dodo certain brands preform better than others?

If you want higher speed, you'll have to increase voltage which simply isn't an issue. No there's no real world difference in 1.5v and 1.65v as it only affects ocing speed by a bit which we've already got with 2400mhz which is enough for any app.

Some brands OC better than others. I always go with Corsair/gskill/crucial/adata/mushkil/patriot for memory sticks :)

With your CPU 2133/9 might be the highest I'd try, 2400 often takes an OC of the CPU and you have a non-K CPU so OCing would be limited to the BCLK.

Will I notice a big difference using 2133/11 vs 2133/9? I ask because I wonder is it worth the cost difference. Also would it be noticeable performance loss by not using 2400? Thank you so so much for all help that you all have given, I really appreciate it.

2133/9 is prob the best bet (and is better performance than 2133/11 - lower CL is tighter/faster), 2400 may just be too much as mentioned, since you can't OC the the CPU and it may well be needed to run at 2400 unless you go sloppy (loose) timings which will then run slower than the 2133/9 or even 2133/10 sticks

Ok I think I will purchase the 2133/9. Thank you so much. Now I just need to make sure that MoBo is worth getting because it's on sale. I kinda wanted the Asus maximus VII but being that I am not going to be OCing (even after I upgrade the CPU), I wonder is it worth it. Any I know this is the wrong forum for that topic, but thank you again.

The Killer you listed will be a good choice, if down the road you ever decide you want better and maybe to OC the Rock's mobo can take a K model CPU or will be ready for the Broadwell CPUs when they are released ;)

I just saw this as I was about to check out.

Mushkin Enhanced Redline 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop MemoryModel 997170R

9-10-10-28 @ 1.6v $169.99

That's better right because the timings are closer, correct? And LESS money :-) ?

Good on both counts - especially the money, always good to find a good deal ;)
