Motherboard: Asus P6T Deluxe v2
CPU: Intel 2.67ghz 920 overclocked to 3.8ghz
Ram: Crucial Ballistix 1600 DDR3
Video Card: Nvidia 670

I got the RAM last Christmas and upgraded from my previous 6GB. Made sure all memory settings were right in the BIOS and 12GB showed up on the windows side. I used the computer sporadically for most of the time since. About a month ago, I cleaned my watercooling setup which included new thermal paste on the cpu. I put it back together and everything seemed good. I used it for streaming movies and web browsing. I happened to be playing a game and trying to web browse about 2 weeks ago and noticed some major lagging. I opened task manager and noticed that over 80% of the RAM showed as full. I quickly checked the RAM and it showed as "4GB installed" in my computer. Since then I:
- Reseated the RAM, including cleaning the slots with air
- Reseated the CPU
- Reset the BIOS to default and then back to overclocked
- Ran MEMTEST
- Checked msconfig to ensure it was not set for max ram
-Checked video card settings to ensure no setting used CPU memory

I did find some bent pins on the motherboard CPU slot - although for all I know they were bent when it was first installed. I fixed them with tweezers, magnifying glass, and a pin and they looked fine. I've done the above about 10 times at least. I even tried loosening the cooler and tightening the cooler.

What's weird is:
BIOS shows 4GB
WIndows shows 4GB
MEMTEST shows 4GB
CPU-Z shows 12GB
System Info for Windows shows 12GB

I have no idea what left to check. I did pop my 6gb back in and sure enough that showed "2GB", so it's not a RAM issue. It seems whatever I install shows 1/3 the actual memory (and system performs as such).

The only thing left was to clean up all the thermal paste and to apply new. I did put a lot on initially and maybe put too much. CPU is running nice and cool though.

So it should be 64 bit. Look in the BIOS see if there's something similar to memory remap features in it. And its enabled

You could try putting your largest DIMM in each slot and run memtest86 on each to verify that all slots appear to be working properly. If that checks out fine, your problem should be in BIOS since it is failing to report the correct amount to memtest86.

Try each stick in each slot, if nothing appears in slots 1-3 or 2-4 then it is probably the mobo (the bent pins) elase the MC (memory controller)

So I ran memtest again and noticed that it found all 3 sticks (12GB) but still said 4gb memory total. It did 62 tests and all came back ok.

With the motherboard, there is no way to set the memory remap feature. From the research I did, it appears on by default with no ability to set it differently.

It does see all sticks, but it's still listing as if it only has 4GB. And yes, windows is 64 bit.

Is BIOS 1202 on it atm?? If it isnt see if an update fixes it

Here's the same mobo same prob

And here. Maybe one of the slots are bad? Someone here says remove the CPU install it again

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/260878-30-asus-deluxe...

Because

I had the same problem and tried everything as said above.
After some more research i found a post (don´t remember where) that said i should try to remove the CPU and then insert it again.

Reason for that is that the Intel I7 920 Cpu that i got also holds the memory-controller.
So i simply removed the cpu, inserted it again and made sure to keep it in place by pressing a finger on it while closing and locking it to the motherboard.

I have a feeling it has something to do with the memory controller

Might be, can also try loosening the CPU cooler, and snugging back down, if overly tight in a corner or side it can throw the CPU slightly out of level which can affect the MC

I'll try and update the bios. But it was working fine before.
I tried multiple times reseating ram, cpu, and cooler. i always tighten opposite sides slowly at the same time. I must have reseated the cpu and ram about 8 times. Even reset CMOS - still showing that it recognizes the ram but only has 4GB showing as the total (even though it acknowledges 3 4gb sticks) :(
