So the new GPU the NVIDIA GTX 970 just got released. I'm running an old GTX 560 ti 2GB model on a Z68 Gigabyte motherboard. From what I read, the GTX 970 will run on a PCIe 2.0 bus. Since my motherboard is capable of upgrading to the Ivy Bridge CPU line, will the i5 2500k OC'd to 4.5 be enough to run the GTX 970 SLI? or Will I have to upgrade to the Ivy Bridge Line, example being i7 3770k?

At 4.5 you will be fine, if not a MINUSCULE bottleneck (Maybe like 3-4fps)

You don't really have to upgrade your cpu to run those, the 2500k will handle them just fine with no bottleneck at all. Any new i5/i7 is suitable for the old and new and upcoming gpus.
