There is no screen brightness slider at the bottom of screen in Power Options in Windows 7 Home Premium. Any idea how to get it for desktop monitors?

On my notebook I can see the slider when I click on Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options> Change Plan Settings and there it is on the bottom of the screen, but not with a desktop.

It would my a lot easier than trying to adjust screen brightness all the time directly on the monitor.
I should correctly say that I want to adjust the back light just like notebooks do.

The Windows screen-brightness slider doesn't appear where a desktop monitor is used, it only applies to laptops because there is no other way to adjust the brightness on a laptop screen.

On a monitor, you adjust the brightness, contrast & colour settings using the monitor's own hardware buttons in conjunction with the on-screen display (OSD) menu system that's built-in to the monitor.

Some monitor manufacturer's provide a free Windows utility which allows you to access and adjust those settings without using the monitor buttons. Check your monitor's CD or the manufacturer's website.
