Was vacuuming my room, pushed the computer a bit to the side but I felt the DVI connector stretching, screen on the monitor went black (was just running music and browser, no stress).Reconnected cables and still nothing. Then I tried to see if I got video on the TV, via HDMI. Still nothing. Starting to get worried. Turned off the PC and checked it GPU was still in place. It seemed a little off. After that the computer would no longer turn on.
Took the mobo, ram and cpu kit, psu and gpu to test.
mobo + cpu + ram worked in my PSU (Antec 850W, modular). Weird, because it wasnt booting at home, wouldnt turn on at all.
Tried booting it with my 690 in it, PC wouldnt start.
Tried booting it with my 690 but with a 550W Corsair. Booted and GPU started smoking. Quickly turned it off.
Took the cooler off (Accelero Twin) and it seemed like the VRMs fried. Only they smelled burnt, everything else looked and smelled okay.

Now back at home, reinstalled everything, had to rearrange cables all over again, when I was almost done, AGAIN computer wouldnt turn on. It turns out it won't respond at all if the jumper for the front USB 2.0 ports were connected. Just plug it off and it turns on a works fine. With no GPU ofc, since mine is dead now, tho I left it there and they said they know some guy who might be able to revive it.
But now, even hooked directly to my mobo (LGA 1155) the monitor, a korean Catleap 27" 1440p monitor won't work. Im typing on my TV! Maybe I just damaged the DVI connector but, seriously, how can a cable overstretch cause this:
- Damage to VRM in GTX 690
- Damage (???) to the front USB 2.0 ports
- Damage to DVI plug in monitor (ok this one makes sense)
And why wouldn't the computer even start with my Antec PSU but boot and fry with a Corsair???
So many questions! :x
plz do help!
