So I have a new PC build, works 100% GREAT, but my BIOS on my motherboard is set to "AUTO" frequency for the RAM I have installed and it has set it at 1333 Mhz... I can manually change it to reach 1600 Mhz which is what the sticks are rated at. I have an ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0. However my BIOS says that the max frequency of the RAM is 1333 Mhz but I can set it above that and the RAM is rated at 1600 Mhz. My question essentially, is... Is it safe to set it to 1600 Mhz? I can and the RAM is rated that speed, but is the board? It says on the box it can go up to 2133 OC RAM, I'd just like conformation so I don't damage any components... I am new to this. Thanks in advance!

Jacob

What's your CPU? the 965 3C is about the lowest end AMD CPU that can carry 1600 sticks, if that or better, look for DOCP or EOCP in the BIOS and enable that and select 1600 - it should set the sticks up to 1600 for you

I have an AMD FX 8350, however the BIOS detects the max frequency of the sticks in 1333... Yet I have the option of going up to 1600Mhz

Look in the BIOS for DOCP or EOCP and enable that, then select the 1600 freq and try
