Hello Tom's Hardware community,
This is my first post but I really appreciate all the information you all provide here - been using it heavily lately and it's been really helpful, especially for a newbie like myself.

I just finished building my first-build; was really happy and it turns on fine, with all fans working.
But I am having trouble getting my keyboard to be detected so I can't change any of the BIOS settings/instal an OS/anything.
When I press the power button (no "beep" since I don't think it's hooked to a speaker?), I get an Asus screen with "Press F2 or Del to enter BIOS" and then proceeds to an American Megatrends screen with some information including "NO Keyboard Detected!" near the end.

I checked the BIOS version (1103) and it is up-to-date.
It can recognize my thumb drive, mouse, and "2 Hubs" (front panel USBs? not sure..), but 0 for Keyboard.

I bought the new USB keyboard from Amazon: FileMate Imagine K2201 (http://tinyurl.com/kmmw4f7)

Reasons I could think of for "NO Keyboard Detected!":
-Keyboard was pretty cheap, and feels cheap. Could simply be a defective keyboard. FYI: Connected it to a laptop but doesn't recognize either.
-Accidentally removed the jumper cap from my motherboard and hooked a 3 pin case fan (I know...)
-Defective motherboard? I really hope not...

I've tried hooking it to every single USB port but no luck.
I've tried clearing the CMOS but no luck either (just moving the jumper cap and putting it back after 5~10 sec. Haven't tried the removing battery method as I'm not sure on how exactly to do it..)

The following info may help:
[CPU]: Intel Core i5-3570K
[CPU Cooler]: Cooler Master GeminII M4 58.4 CFM Sleeve Bearing
[Motherboard]; Asus P8Z77-I DELUXE/WD Mini ITX LGA1155 Motherboard
[Memory]: Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
[Storage]: Samsung SSD PM800 128GB 2.5"
[GPU]: XFX Radeon R9 270X 2GB Double Dissipation Video Card
[Case]: Silverstone SG05BB-LITE Mini ITX Tower
[PSU]: Silverstone 450W 80+ Bronze Certified SFX

I am going to try hooking the keyboard to a working desktop tomorrow. Will also borrow a different USB keyboard and try again. But was wondering if anyone could provide input - do you think it's rather a problem with the motherboard?

I would really appreciate any comments! Will post tomorrow again if swapping the keyboards works.

On a sidenote: after successfully installing the OS, in which order should I install drivers?
-Motherboard drivers (sound, wifi, etc.)
-GPU drivers
-Direct X/Mantle?

Could be a stupid question..but couldn't find simple guides on steps after boot up.
Thanks in advance for your help!

How can you get into the BIOS if the kb doesnt work? You would have to try another keyboard first to see if there's a mobo prob

What I would do is take the mobo out and see if it works. Put it on a table or something. If it works, something maybe shorting

By USB.
I tried plugging into every single USB ports (both USB 2 and 3) but still can't be detected..

Caps/Num Lock light doesn't turn on either (hooked to a working laptop too but same results)
