Hi guys
Im currently building my first gaming computer and have some questions about components. I plan on using the computer mostly for high quality gaming of the latest releases but also everyday stuff while im at university.

Components list:

CPU: i7-4790k
GPU: GTX 780
Motherboard - Undecided
Case: CM Storm Scout 2 Advanced
PSU: undecided

1) For GPU - Im looking at the GTX 780 but I am happy to downgrade as long as it still meets my gaming requirements. Would the GTX 780 be considered overkill for what I want to do? should I look at something cheaper?. I want it to be able to last a decent amount of time before upgrading.

2) The case i am considering is the CM Storm Scout 2 Advanced. Im struggling with checking that all my components will fit in this case. How do i go about this?

3) Being my first build, i know little to nothing about motherboards, what would be a motherboard that would meet my needs, match the components and fit in the case?

4) Wireless card - I dont know much about wireless cards and the research i have done hasn't helped much. How do i decide on one?

5) What power supply is best for this case and these components?

6) Can you install a fan controller on the case?

Solution
- I'd say go for the GTX 970 as it gives a much better price to performance ratio.

- The CM Storm Scout II Advanced is a Mid Tower ATX case so it should be able to fit all your components. Check this out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jr94udXQ_VE

- Go for the ASUS Z97-a Motherboard as it's a good quality motherboard and ASUS usually honour warranty requests better than other manufacturers (atleast in my experience).

- Sorry, I don't know much about wireless cards so I can't help you there.

- The PSU depends on whether you're going to SLI at some point in the future. If yes, go for the XFX 750W and if not, go for the XFX 550W or Seasonic S12ii/M12ii 620W (The M12ii is the modular one).

- Yes, you can install a fan controller on the...

GPU: The GTX 780 is around the $500 mark at the moment so that would be my maximum.

MoBo and PSU: This is the problem im having, i cant give a budget because I dont know what is reasonable for my requirements.

- Yes, you can install a fan controller on the case if you absolutely want to.

- Are you going to overclock your CPU? I'm assuming that you would, as you're buying the 4790K. So have you thought about getting a CPU cooler when you're going to overclock? Check out the CM Hyper Evo/X if you're going for mild overclocks and the Noctua NH-D14 if you're going higher.

Thanks for the recommendations :)

- I have decided to go with the GTX 970, its so much cheaper and after a bit of research, it more than accommodates my needs.

- Ive had a look at the motherboard you suggested and liked it. However, amazon suggested this one
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JKCHDC2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Its a little bit cheaper and has the more PCI slots. Can you see any problems if I went with this one?

- PSU im going to go with the XFX 750W as I am pretty confident I will SLI in the future.

- In regards to the CPU - Im not sure I will overclock but I figured i would leave my options open as the 4790k wasnt a great deal more expensive then the 4790. Any thoughts on the 4790k? Is it sufficient for my needs?

Thanks again for the help :)

- If you're only gaming and not doing any editing / rendering, go for the i5-4690k as the i7-4790k doesn't give much over the i5 for gaming. And get a CM Hyper 212 Evo. It will run nice and cool. Also, read this http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-4.html

- I don't have any experience regarding Gigabyte motherboards, so I can't help you there. It has mostly positive reviews though.

Edit : Also read these reviews http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128710

You're welcome
