Okay, so I've been selling random stuff around my house and I have a little bit of money.....I'm torn on what to do.....New CPU/MOBO or GPU.....

Currently, I don't game (Just haven't found time lately).....When I do come back, I will want my graphics to be decent....Doesnt have to be ultra but high would be nice.......I believe the Phenom has some fight left in it.....

My Vizio Monitor is 720p....

Anyways,

My PC:
-Amd Phenom IIx4 955 (OC'd to 3.8ghz)
-Gtx 460 768mb (Lol)
-Windows 7
-60gb SSD
-500gn HDD
-6gb Ram 1333mhz Corsair XMS3 (Dead RAM Slot so no 8gb)

Anyways, I've been looking at AMD Fx 6300 and 8350 for CPU (Not sure on Motherboard) and Gtx 760 and Gtx 750ti........I've heard the 760 is overkill for 720p but more future proof.....

I like Amazon (Prime Member).......

Thanks for any feedback!

I so don't know which way to go......

More about : upgrade cpu motherboard gpu 250 budget

New GPU all the way, the main bottleneck on that System is the GPU, upgrading it will sort out most fps drops etc, the only other thing i would recommend in perhaps a year or two is a CPU upgrade, since some newer games are becoming much more demanding on the processor.

I would go for the gtx 760, sure its overkill, but then if you choose to upgrade monitor you will have a GPU that can better handle the situation.

A gtx760 is a bit better than a R9 270x - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1043?vs=1038 - but costs a fair bit more.
eg MSI R9 270x $204 - http://www.amazon.com/MSI-R9-270X-DisplayPort-PCI-Expre...

Get an amd 8 core eg 8320 or 8350 or the new 8370.
eg FX8370 $194 - http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FX-8370-Edition-Processor-FD8...

Get a 990fx chipset mobo for it
eg ASRock 990fx Fatality Killer $160 - http://www.amazon.com/ASRock-Motherboard-FATAL1TY-990FX...

I can get the card for now, CPU and Motherboard will have to wait for tax time.....

Lets say my CPU was at 3.2ghz am I going to get bottlenecked? (I'm at 3.8 with Evo Cooler) but I like stock heat more lol

Also, that motherboard seems pretty fancy.....Why not a asrock or that's around 75.00, I can never see myself using sli......

Gaming is almost secondary to surfing the net and watching movies....Just bugs me I can't currently just grab a game and go, if I feel like it.....

"Can I run IT" HAS me failing on GPU for most games (recommended)

Your CPU is weaker than even a FX4300 which will be too weak for anything over a R7 260x.

You can get a R9 270x or GTX760 but your CPU won't let it work at full power.

Will it work poorly? I know it won't get the full potential but i don't want to buy it if it's not even playable.....

You should be fine with the 270x paired with your phenom. You could even go up to a GTX 760 if you wanted to.

It won't be getting it's full potential, however you should have very playable performance.

So than maybe a 750ti? or go cpu route.....

that's a bummer about the 760, but I rather not be disappointed

No, it will work fine. Just look at any gameplay video recorded on youtube with the same cpu as you using shadowplay. BF4 ran very smoothly at high settings with your CPU paired with a GTX 660.

isn't the 660 "old tech" now with the 760 out? I rather buy something that's still somewhat new (driver support etc)

750ti or 760 lol.....or maybe AMD offerings

Yes it's an older card, but it was just an example that your CPU can still be used with a gpu upgrade. The 660 performs similarly to the R9 270.

So the million dollar question....660? 750ti? or R9 270

Is there any benefit to running an an amd card since I have amd cpu?

Don't get the 660, it was just an example.

Performance wise the R9 270 take the lead. There is no benefit using an AMD card with an AMD CPU.

Well I can get a 760 for 85.00 (Friend owes me some money....So we made a deal)......You think I should jump on it?

I also see R9 270 on ebay all day long for 85.00-130.00

Yes that's a great deal since it's more powerful than the 270 and they go for around $220 new.

This video makes me feel a lot better about purchasing the 760......This guy has his CPU OC'd at 3.5.......I can get 3.7-3.8 stable without heating issues...... He is seeing 30fps WHILE recording. Is that considered playable? He has the game on Ultra (Metro Last Light)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxhRB9qGAmA

So again, you think the Gtx 760 wouldn't be a waste.....? I mean if I get the 270, it's already on the older side....I won't be upgrading CPU/MOBO until next year sometime

What are some brands of GPU to stay away from?

Good:
Asus
MSI
Gigabyte
EVGA

Brands I'm not sure of:
Galaxy
HIS
Sapphire

Any other complete C*** I should stay away from?

Just because some brands are advertised more than the others doesn't mean they're necessarily better. For graphics cards any of those brands should work fine.
